ASHIKAGA COCOWINE (750ml)

Our entry level off-dry white wine, made from a blend of wine grapes grown throughout Japan. The back bone of the blend is typically the Koshu grape, a gentle, subtly aromatic grape grown primarily in Yamanashi prefecture. The blend also typically contains some Chardonnay to broaden the palate, as well as a bit of Bacchus to add a fresh fruit component.
The slightly sweet, mild and pure aspect of this wine makes it a wonderful sipper, and an excellent partner on the dinner table with Japanese food.

COCO ROSE (750ml)

The beautiful color of rose petals, like the roses of surrounding our vineyards. A fresh yet complex wine balancing the red fruit of raspberries and gentle earthy notes. A perfect partner for many dishes from baked ham to curry and rice, especially well with Chinese dishes and spicy Asian ethnic dishes.

NOUMIN DRY (750ml)

A dry, steely, aromatic wine made chiefly from Hokkaido grapes.
The German varieties Kerner and Muller-Thurgau, when grown in the proper place, both possess powerful aromatic qualities and a good acid spine.
The result is a spritely, crisp wine, thirst-quenchingly dry and suitable for the dinner table.

NOUMIN ROSSO (750ml)

Our entry level red wine, this is a light, fruit and herb inflected wine made from grapes harvested across Japan. The backbone is of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (the classic grape cultivars that go into making red Bordeaux wines) from Kaminoyama-shi in Yamagata prefecture. This is fleshed out with a mix of grape varieties from various regions, including Zweigeltrebe from Hokkaido and Muscat Bailey A from Tochigi.
Made in a style that intentionally emphasizes the fruity, supple nature of the base wines, this bottle is a delight to drink upon release.

KAZE NO ROUGE (750ml)

A ripe, sumptuous, barrel-aged red wine made chiefly from two grape
sources: Yoichi town in Hokkaido, and Kaminoyama city in Yamagata.
The Yoichi fruit is primarily Zweigeltrebe, a grape variety developed in Austria several years ago. It provides a spicy, pungent, berried mouthful of wine when grown carefully and harvested fully ripe. The Yamagata grapes are our best lots of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, grown on south-facing hillside plots by some excellent vineyard specialists. The various lots are aged in small oak barrels after fermentation to provide structure and a distinct mellowness. The final blend is made on a barrel-by-barrel basis, where only the best tasting barrels are used.
Enjoyable now with grilled meats and stews, this wine will continue to improve for years to come.

KOSHU FOS (750ml)

A unique style of Koshu, one that takes advantage of the strong spice and phenolic notes of this Japan-only grape. Though a white wine, the FOS is fermented on skins as one would do in red wine production. The result is unlike anything you’ve had before: a white wine of richness and complexity, meaty, completely dry, and rather stern.
Most definitely not for everyone, but just maybe your cup of tea…

TANNAT-NORTON (750ml)

A powerhouse of a wine made from some unusual grape varieties seldom found in Japan. Tannat is the chief grape of the inky dark, feral red wines of France’s Madiran region. Norton is an even less well-known grape variety, being recently “rescued” from extinction by rural wine makers in the mid-eastern United States.
The combination of the two―the powerful, earthy tannic Tannat and the explosively aromatic Norton―yields a red wine of ageability, finesse, and power.

YAMA NO CHARDONNAY (750ml)

Classic, dry barrel fermented Chardonnay from low yielding vineyards on steep mountain sides in Kaminoyama, Yamagata prefecture.
Ripe and mouth-filling, dry and complex, a regal wine in the tradition of the white wines of Burgundy.

DAI ICHI GAKUSHOU (English Name) (750ml)

Our Dai Ichi Gakushou is a wine made from the traditional Japanese red wine grapes Muscat Bailey A. The vineyards are pruned severely, yielding intensely concentrated grapes. This, combined with our hands-on, traditional wine making, make for a truly unique wine. Aged in oak barrels, the wine exhibits a deep purple color and very intense aromas, with rich berry characters and hints of spice, musk, and orange peel. The taste is full and long, with a lingering acidity and a slight refreshing bitterness. Best with powerful dishes including duck with a fruit sauce, stew of beef or boar, and strong cheeses.

NOVO BRUT sparkling wine (750ml)

A crisp, dry, steely aristocratic style of methode champenoise wine from the traditional Japanese grapes Riesling Lion. A new look at some long-neglected grape varieties. The wine is made in extremely small quantities, and often sells out within a few weeks of release.

NOVO DEMI-SEC sparkling wine (750ml)

A sweeter-styled sparkling wine made from traditional Japanese grapes. Crisp fruit combining with gentle sweetness make this wine ideal as an aperitif or with fruit-based desserts.

SUONO DEL ASINO
(The Foot Fall of Donkey)
Vin Santo dessert wine.
(375ml)

The wine is made from partially dried Koshu grapes, in homage to the powerful, rustic Vin Santo (Sainted Wine) wines produced in Italy. This golden colored wine is very formidable, with an aroma of vanilla and dried fruits. A honied richness and a nutty complexity, with a long refreshing finish of vanilla and apricots. This is a luxurious after dinner wine.
